Great experience exploring the Japanese technique of Raku firing.
This week, we used our raku kiln to fire pieces we had created.
Raku firing is a unique ceramic technique that involves quickly heating pottery, removing it from the kiln while it is still red hot, and then placing it in a container of combustible materials like sawdust or newspaper. This process, also known as post-firing reduction, creates a distinct blackened or crazed effect on the clay and glaze, resulting in unique and unpredictable finishes.
Join in the fun and learn new techniques with other ceramic enthusiasts
Clay is available to purchase.
Use of tools and kiln’s is included in the cost of class.
Please contact me at jenni@taris.co.nz for prices and book your space.
